FAQ

Do I need to speak Chinese?

Our department is listed as an English-taught program, so Chinese is not required for your degree courses, and our lab meetings are held in English. If you want to learn Chinese, NTHU's Chinese Language Center offers courses.

Can I start as a TEEP intern and apply for a degree later?

Yes. TEEP is designed to introduce international students to Taiwan's research environment and encourage further study in Taiwan. Degree admission still goes through NTHU's regular application.

How long does the funding last?

The NTHU International Student Scholarship lasts up to two years for MS students and up to five years for PhD students. It continues each year after a renewal review, and PhD students reapply in their fifth year. The Taiwan Scholarship covers up to two years for a master's degree and four years for a PhD.

How much will my studies cost?

Tuition and fees are listed on NTHU's admission website. If you receive the NTHU International Student Scholarship, tuition and credit fees are waived.
